Goal 3 aims to ensure health and promote wellbeing for all ages by improving reproductive, maternal, and child health, ending major epidemics, reducing non-communicable diseases, promoting mental health, and addressing behavioural and environmental health risks.
Health and wellbeing are at the core of London Met’s programmes, research, and resources for students, staff, and the broader community.
This page highlights London Met's ongoing initiatives and key achievements from the 2024/25 academic year, demonstrating efforts to advance SDG 3.
Improving Health Through Research
Our researchers work with health partners to address some of society's most pressing health challenges. In 2024/25, London Met secured funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to improve support for breast cancer patients, helping to develop approaches that enhance patient care and quality of life.
Supporting Community Health
Our Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic provides affordable assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to members of the public. The clinic gives students valuable practical experience while helping individuals recover from injury, improve mobility and enhance physical wellbeing.
Promoting Inclusion and Wellbeing
We recognise that wellbeing encompasses both physical and mental health. The Rainbow Room provides a dedicated inclusive space that supports LGBTQ+ students and staff, helping to foster belonging, wellbeing and a supportive university community.
Encouraging Healthy and Active Lifestyles
Sport and physical activity play an important role in maintaining good physical and mental health. London Met provides all students and staff with free access to our gym, sports facilities and fitness classes, helping to promote healthy lifestyles across our university community.
During 2024/25, we also hosted a range of local community sports groups and educational partners through the use of our sports facilities, creating opportunities for people of all ages to participate in physical activity, improve wellbeing and build social connections.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 targets agreed upon by all UN Member States in 2015. Their purpose is to create a better and more sustainable future for everyone by 2030. They address major global issues such as poverty, inequality, climate action, and education, requiring all countries to work together to achieve these ambitious targets.
